Book Fest Sept 2010

It never crossed my mind to stop by at the Popular Book Fest currently on going at the KL Convention Centre despite my office is just a stone throw away.

My sis called me up during office hours on Wednesday to get a favour to buy a book on promo at the fest - a hard cover book usual price at rm89.90 now selling at rm 15.90.

I was a lil sceptical when I am asked to pay rm2 to just enter the hall! It did not give better impression when the first few banner I saw only call for 20% off the usual price.
However, if you brave yourself to join the crowd corner, you can find some bargains at prices under rm30, some even under rm20. Not many that cheap though.

With me having only my lunch hour to spare, I managed to grab 2 books at rm 15.90 each, which one of them is a hardcover * heehee *

And of course, to my delight, there was this promo of 6 pieces of stickers for rm5! Imagine my excitement! Hahaha - and these are good quality stickers, mind you! * =P *

So yeah, the fest is a good go provided that you;

  1. A stickers fan like moi! * =P *
  2. Have lots of books you would want to buy - else not worth the rm2 entrance fee. Hey, you will be buying things in there and on top of that you have to pay rm2 to gain entry?
  3. You have kids which you have to supply them with school books and reading materials - there was plenty at good prices
  4. You intend to stock up on stationeries - plenty on promo prices like the stickers!
  5. You can read chinese books - they have books from Taiwan, China, etc

* Smiles *

Dimsum @ IOI Marriot Putrajaya

Having breakfast dimsum at a 5 star hotel sets my expectation high. Perhaps that marred the taste buds when the food do not come with a 5 star taste * =P *

Let's start with the yummy ones ;

I like the egg tarts - very soft and fluffy centre with sweet custard taste to it. Like the small, mouthful size where I can pop them into my mouth WHOLE * =P *

Fish paste in Beancurd Skin - crispy yummy!

Fish paste on taufoopok with sesame top - very yummy!

The rest of the dimsum are of norm only, nothing special, and some of it not yummy at all

Jelly fish!

Yummy looking porridge but taste otherwise.

The ambience was good though. Super quiet on a Sunday morning - a good place to have heart-to-heart chat without the chaos of a dimsum place * wink wink *

Eye Cream

Panda Meow likes this...

The texture is fine, easy to absorb and leaves a silky feeling to your eye areas. Definitely a good eye moisteriser, I do sense my panda eye area has lighten, an amazing enough eye cream for my permanent panda eye
* wink wink *

Innocent Lil Ghosts

In the midst of coughing and burning throat surrounded by piles of tissue paper, I manage to complete reading this book.

I have to admit that it had been really quite sometime I read a religious book - well, I hardly have the time and energy to read any book * guilty * However, a bout of coincidences aligned.

A Hindu colleague of mine is currently observing vegetarian month. Accompanied her to the temple near KLCC for a vege lunch. Coincidentally, that day was Guan Yin day, hence I stepped into the temple to pay homage. A quick scan at the books corner, this book caught my eye.

This book talks about abortion and the buddhism view about it. It is really scary to reflect how abortion has become a norm in this modern society, without us realising the amount of negative energy it released. Sex seems to be the only constant in this society, where it ruled most things in live, second to money.

It is really a good angle of perspective on the reflection of the act of abortion. Had never realised that an act of support given to a friend in need could be promoting unforeseen huge amount of bad causes. At times you may think you are helping, but in fact, are you really?

Again, something worth reflecting upon.

Sick Meow...

* ughh... * I hate it when you fall sick smack at the beginning of the weekend.

Woke up on Friday morning with a light sorethroat and it progressed into a sneezing frenzy when the day hits noon.

I quickly rushed off to see the dr after work hoping that early medication can help to curb the sickness but least expected that it spiralled into a full fledge angry tirade of painful sorethroat, fever, coughing as well as non-stop sneezing nose the following day.

* arghhh!!!! * what a way to spend the long awaited weekend - am still sick, hopefully will be well enough to brave the tough week I foresee coming ahead...

Bath Time Book?

Kids nowadays certainly have access to not only more luxuries in life - but they are also exposed to much more creative stuff to help them grow up smarter.

I can slowly understand how at times, this generation's parents will find it hard to indulge their lil ones. There is just too much temptation out there which will make you swipe your card.

I came across this book one day and yes, I could not resist it...

This is actually a bath time book. Which is made of plastic, waterproof and it floats!

You can use the book with the child during bath time - where play is learning at the same time! Dont waste any time at all!

I was really impressed with the concept. And it wasnt expensive - only rm19.90.

What makes it cuter - it comes with this moo-moo toy - it actually can squirt out water!!! * LOL * To be honest, I really wanted to kidnap the moo-moo and give my nephew only the book * =P * But then again, learing from Toy Story 3, the toy will be happier if there is someone who actually appreciate and plays with them.

So I hope my nephew enjoys this! * =) *
