Oink-oInK !

I know I am being silly but this CNY is the reign of the piggies! I cant help but feeling excited and feel that this is a good time to bring our my pretty piggy to Oink-oINK blessings to everyone for the whole year! * :P * Blush * I am just so sot-sot!

Little Miss Pretty Piggie! Thats what I call her cos - well, she is so pwweeettyy! She had a big pink polka-loves ribbon on top of her head creating a " hau tou sei" aura about her! * heehee *

And I keep having this notion that SP will comment that the piggie ' haau' macam the tuan punya, so I decided to put BOTH our pic up and let you all see the 2 piggies! * :P *

Here's a Double Oinks for you all! May you all have a fantastic pig year! ~oink!oink!snort!~

yee sang

This year's CNY, finally get to 'lou sang' with SP! * heehee * Anyway, all my cheemuis n hingtai never actually went 'lou sang' with me before la - so this is a first i guess * :P *

As there was only the 2 of us (everyone else had colliding schedule * :/*), and our semangat 'lou sang' membara, we went for the mini 'yee sang' by RajaSushi * :P * I went in with overwhelming skeptism that it woulnt be good but it proved me wrong. It turned out to be okay * hehehe *

The rm8.88++ yeesang... * heehee * the table behind if me was occupied by this group of young, college guys, and surprisingly, they were in a much more spirited CNY than both of us. They too did 'lou sang', complete with the shouting out of prosperous CNY greetings like ' bou bou go sing', those good 'yee tau' phrases ahmahs and aunties use during CNY, if u get what I mean.

Well, the mini 'yee sang' is definitely a grain of sand compared to the GIANT 'yee sang' I prepared for my club's CNY event. It can serve up to 80 people! NO KIDDING! I bought a bag of 50pairs of disposable chopsticks - tak cukup guna leh! And the 50 people who did the toss only ate like half of the platter!

A BIG-ASS platter of 'yee sang' !!!

See the mountain of stuff? * muahahhahahaha! * Those pickled stuff n crackers n seasoning I got from the wholesaler and the fresh stuff ( shredded carrots, sengkuang, chinese parsley, pomelo) my mum n I did it. I hate to say this - but I am proud of myself that it turned out to be what it supposed to be and tasted good too! * heehee *

The CNY event though a hassle as it involves a territory I am not familiar with - which is the Chinese customs and culture, proved to be an eye-opening and refreshing experience for me. I am blessed to be given a chance to rekindle and reintroduce myself to the culture of CNY celebration and of course, learned to appreciate it more than before.

It is sad to learn that the current n future generations are losing their touch of the CNY actually meaning and fun. All the current generations see are holidays and angpau and the chance to buy new clothes n shoes. I am glad that I now have a broader perspective of CNY and understand why the older generations usually very hyped up with this celebration.

Valentine 2007 - Part 2

Being single often being labelled as boring and sad creatures when Vday arrives. I beg to differ... Yeah, Vday simply SEEMs to be better when you are with that someone special, especially when you are surrounded by couples on this very day, every god damned place you go, with everyone asking you how you will be spending this Vday special nite with a special someone.

To me, it is not important if you are in a relationship or not - it is being HAPPY that matters. I dont say this because I am currently single and jealous of couples - I AM NOT - but from experiences, I can assure you that Vday is not always a happy day for most couples.

You see, with everyone, especially couples, putting so much expectation onto this already over rated day, people are bound to be disappointed. Some people so "action" and show off that they have a BF or GF to spend this day with, but how many really look into the aspect where do both really am having a HAPPY Valentine's day?

Undoubtly there will be disappointed GFs who did not receive the "anticipated" gift(s) or the "ideal" date and BFs who complained the big hole burnt in their wallets and some prolly an empty bank account and going almost bald tearing their hair to come up with the "ideal" date.

Its ironic how people only judge from the presents one received and where they went for their Vday date than the "quality" of the day spent. Many bragged of what they got but deep down, are they really happy? Some yes, but mostly, sure got complaints wan...

Me too, used to be all excited about Vday, making all sort of preparation for it, in the naive nature of trying to serenade the one i love and make the day a special one. Once you got disappointed that things always dont turn up as you want it to be, you'll give up. I rather spend it plainly but happily rather than risk my heart getting pierced. Because men will never know what women wants and men willnever understand why their efforts are not being appreciated ( cos you got the presents wrong, dude! :P )

This year, I am so lucky to be given a chance to celebrate Vday in a very different perspective. As I had to participate in my Club's event, I found that my Vday was thoroughly very much happier than the days I spent with a BF. Of course, different kind of feel la, but its the contented feeling at the end of the day that matters most. I had a lot of fun in an environment filled with people, laughter and of course, fun! I am so thankful to God for alowing me the opportunity to have such uplifting Vday experience!

And here, I must give credit to B for adding loads of sugar to sweeten my Vday. He got me the most expensive bouquet of flowers I have received in this 23 years of my life yet( hoping many more to come, of course! :P) and it is absolutely pretty! In pink too! * heehee * swoon!* Thanks, B! Such a sweet boy! * hugsies ! *

A single white rose also from B... My fave color! * heehee *

I simply lurve how perfect this bloom was! ( yeah, I know I am a perfectionist la! ) It was in pure white and has the perfect arrangement of petals - which blooms prettily!

The big bouquet from B... Simply sweet scented and of course, beautiful!

Pinky roses! * heehee *

Must thank B again for this! I appreciates it very much! And thanks for the surprise and of course, the effort too!

Impressive Bak Kut Teh

I am very certain that you guys know that I am not an early panda ... Well, due to duties to manage the CNY event for my uni, I had to fight the morning birds at the Jalan Pasar morning market to tick things off my checklist - well, where else to get cheap, fresh and very Chinese stuffs if not the old Chinese wet market? Though suffered sleep deprivation, I enjoyed my trip very much to my surprise!

I MUST blog about this Bak Kut Teh. Situated within the wet market, it is the most AMAZING bak kut teh I've ever tasted in my life! SERIOUSLY with a capital S !!! Of course, ignore the rather unhygienic place and bad environment * hehehe *

Why it impressed me was that it is damn GOOD! Looks can be deceiving and this definitely tipu me liao! * :P *

Typical bak kut teh spread rite?

The intestines for my mum - * bluek *

This is what impressed the saliva out of me - brace yourself ok?

C-L-E-A-R soup!!! OMG... At first, I was rather sceptical as we were accustomed to cloudy and dark coloured bak kut teh soup and this one if very clear compared to those! But take one sip and you are suckered! It tasted even better than those dark, cloudy ones! Very heavy taste (kaau) of bak kut teh herbs with a very refreshing clear taste!

And the babi meat - oh-s0-good! The pork was very tender and was brewed long enough in the bak kut teh broth to infuse the meat with its flovor - unlike the usual ones we makan which still carry the porky taste.

Seriously - MESTI pergi cuba leh... AT least you lives and died tasted a "clear" bak kut teh before! * wink *

Rate : Food 8 /10, Price 6.5 /10 I dont think I can rate further, you all faham-faham la har... *:) *

Valentine's Day 2007 - Part 1

I know I've been ranting about how busy I was for my past few entries - and well, I still am * :P * Prolly till after CNY... One of the agenda on my tight schedule was to prepare for my club's Valentine's Marketing Day. I tried my luck to sell bear-bouquets and to my joy - EACH AND EVERY DAMNED ONE SOLD OFF! * Yippee-yippee-Ya-ya!!! * Made a small profit as well!!! I didnt really mark up the price high as my target customers are students - somemore students in my Uni not generally very receptive to events organized by students... But I am glad that I sold off everything, as some of my friends had to lug their 'stocks' home...

I made these - and I wanna record it down as part of my "craft-portfolio" * :P *

Pink Bunny bouquet! This is one very hot item! I mean H-O-T!!! All of them got sold out in the 1st hour I displayed it out!

Teddy bouquet - this one barely made it to the stall - my friend grabbed it the minute I took it out from my car! Anyway, I made only ONE as the shop left only one in stock...

Loyal Mousey bouquet - not so popular, prolly because many prefer the Couple Mousey more - but I sold off all anyway! * heehee *

Couple Mousey - this is the 2nd most popular item!

Lollipop bouquet! The one which received the most compliments - but people prefer to buy bears here ... I think it is the prettiest of all my creations, but maybe if I make a bigger bouquet with more lollipops will have more demand - but all jual habis! * heehee *

If I give you this, will you give me hug + kiss? * :P *

I am really glad that all sold out ... At least now I know that my creations is marketable! * heehee * Meaning if I really venture into this line of business, wont 100% bankrupt! * :P * Who wanna get similar stuff can order from me la! I give you good price! * hehehe * Now I know why people charge so expensive for these kinda stuffs - cos to make it in big quantities takes up a lot of time and consumes a lot of energy - definitely suitable only for those who has a passion such things ...

My pretty favorite!

I M-U-S-T cam-whore this beauty!

So pweeetty!!! 6 scoops of sinful indulgence! I just cannot resist ice-creams, what more Haagen Daz's! What a sight to behold! Priced at rm23.90++, its a feast for your sight, emotionally and tastebuds! Of course, you are paying rm23.90++ to destroy your bosy with these devils disguised in sugar and cream!

I have it at almost every possible angle! It was impressively well presented to the dot!
A close-up view...

Left-Side view ... see the slice of apple?

Facing-me view * :p * OMG, salivating already...

Bird's eye view. If only I can have it every meal every day! I would die a happy diabetic then!

Another close up shot - just couldnt resist!

I jus lurve how detailed the presentation was! See! Tiny heart shapes surround the basket of joy! But the butterscotch was too sweet though, especially when the ice-creams and waffle basket was sweet liao.

Definitely a very "sweet" early Valentine's Day treat of mine! * swoon! *

Diva is in town!

I dunno why the start of year 2007 is so busy for me... I guess it will continue till after CNY... Being so occupied is good as time passes by more quickly and you felt as if you have been very productive - but I need more hours in a day!!! Working way up till dawn is no good solution as I feel lethargic the next morning and yet - work is still piling up to my neck!

I have not been to OneUtama for the past month (or have it been monthS???) and when I went there to teman my bro shop for his CNY clothes, I shrieked ecstastically when I saw Diva opened their chain there! O-M-G!!! We usually come across one pitiful rack at Miss Selfridge or TopShop of Diva merchandise and now - the whole damn shop!

* Yippee-yippee-ya-ya! *

Surprisingly, its not as expensive as I perceived it would be AND they were having some promotional items on sale! * howling... * Yay! I'm sure WL would be happy too - but there goes our plan to open a Diva franchise in Malaysia now...

I got this pair at rm12!!! The original price was rm46 * heehee * It may look a lil too OTT, but I think it will serve well for formal dinners and functions!

And I saw this ring I just can NOT resist! The urge for ownership was so damn strong!!! * :P * I dont usually wear rings, what more to buy them but this one, I knew I must have it the moment I lay my eyes on it;

* Ta-daa! * A butterfly ring! Priced at rm23, I thought it was a good price as the ring seems to be off good quality and a very bling rhinestone in the middle!

A lil of a big-ass ring but I just lurrrrveee it! So happy ler me!!! I like some of the necklaces there too... My birthday is still a long way afar... * :P * Maybe I get some for Valentine's? * hoping * praying hard...* wink *

CNY bleakness

I have never been a very enthusiastic CNY person all my life. The only jive I have about CNY is that I get to go buy new clothes and shoes and eat that fantastic pineapple tarts my neighbour sends to us every year.

To me, CNY is all about the hot, dry weather, undesirable washing & cleaning and of course, self defense & tolerance. As it has been my family's tradition to have open house on the 1st day of CNY, it means nothing to me besides washing those dirty plates and cups and cleaning after guests in the scorching day. Mum will expect me to help to do the dish washing and the preparation of the table spread and jangan even harap my 1st sis will lend any hand - maybe except for barking more orders at you as if she is the Madame of the house. The CNY eve too spells nothing except more cleaning and washing and having orders barked at you like you are a servant when some 'highly' being thinks that she is the Queen and you are born to do the dirty jobs unlike her highness.

All the crap with the over rated 'spirits' of reunion and rekindled relationships of CNY - bullshit la. It is a gathering for some people to show off and the time for them to condemn you at every possible opportunity. Relatives like nothing more but to sibuk about what you have been up to the past year and find fault with it. All those fake-ness drives me up the wall each blardy time. If you really care about me so much, why didnt you bother to actually C-O-N-T-A-C-T me during the year and ask nicely, not critisizing and snickered at you. Why is it that people enjoy bringing you down to hell and push themselves to the heaven? And coming from your own bloodline somemore! You have to defend yourself to the max or risk being humiliated with no mercy or compassion in front of everyone till the next CNY.

Over the years, I managed to attain my survival skills - ignore and answer their question with a question followed by a smirk on your face to add the mystery ... * :P * I've learnt to allow them to think that I am arrogant therefore they wont bother to even apporoach me * muahahahaha! * Dont mess with me, I definitely, 100%, comfirmed - WILL BITE you if you dare!

So you see - I dont exactly like CNY.

However, this year I gotten a lil into the CNY mood as I have to organize this CNY event for my club in Uni. All those research and activities did put me into the festivity. I hope that in the future, I can reshape the CNY that I used to and am experiencing into something I actually will and can enjoy!
