Melaka Day Trip 2008 - Food

OK - a lil note on our recent day trip to Melaka. I have posted the pics at Multiply - so go ahead to look see there as I will only select few to blog upon.

Yeah, its my car's "virgin" road trip * heehee *. Hopefully there will be more fun ones ahead!

I shall blog on the food part first of course - SP is anticipating that I know * hehehe *

With WL wailing on and on that she was hungry during the drive heading Melaka, we finally reach to eat this Duck Mee.

Its actually "Dry" noodles with shreaded Duck Meat served with some herbal based soup ala BakKutTeh style. We were amazed that each bowl costs rm2.50 jer * hehehe * A small bowl that is la...

Had these fish balls and such along with the Duck Mee - ordinary.

For lunch, how can we miss the famous Melaka chicken rice balls right... Heard later that there are better ones than the shop we went, but its ok, this calls for another trip down to Melaka then! * LOL *

What we ordered....

The rice balls. Personally, I dont really like wet & sticky rice, so this is purely cute to me * =P *

For tea, we went for the Durian Cendol at Tan Chin Hock.

Sorry - but I just couldnt bring myself to at least say its ok. I really cannot "convince" myself to say its ok as I beh-tahan the "durian" taste. It is more like they melt the durian dodol and put in the cendol... * eeek! *

Of course must have Satay Celup when in Melaka. As much as I cringe at the thought of the kind of Food WL gonna dip in the same pot as mine... * =P *

The satay "soup". I am not a peanut person, hence the peanut sauce pot didnt sound appealing to me at all.

However, it was rather good and I find myself eating * heehee * =P *

It was good to see that they actually presented you with trays filled with food-on-sticks and you eat as much as you want, they will charge you for every stick you ate instead of what's on your table.

You can always take more if you can finish these or take some other varieties from the fridges.

In a way, it annoys me a bit oso la, cos they put all to the customers table, when customer never finish all, do they just top up more and serve the same tray to another customer? * cringe * I pushed that thought away then, of course * =P *

I find it cute that they also serve pieces of bite-sized bread for you to dip in the peanut sauce. Clumsy me "lost" a piece of it in the sauce pot * =P * shhhh.... * wink wink *

And as promised that I will post this pic here - WL's tray of disgusting food * =P * All her "spare-parts" on sticks... * cringe * The black thing was actually pig's ears!!! * eeeek! *

No, I can never be as brave as they are - I will definitely puke or faint if you force it upon me. I just.... Cant...

How SP? You oso interested on the "spare-parts" too? * =P *

Hungry

Not knowing why - feeling hungry at the time I am writting this blog. Its bed time already and I have been munching the whole night - STILL am hungry... Weird...

Craving for these creamy, cheesy food * =P *

Carbonara - yummy! This was by Dave's Deli - after a long absence, a revisit to this place offered a pleasant surprise that the food are still yummy.

Look at the pile of parmesan on top! * drooling *

And Pammie found a huge piece of mushroom slice in her lasagna. Hooray for mushroom lovers!

Ookay - this is seriously not doing any good for someone who is craving for food and should go to bed already * =P *

But then again, piggies like us... * wink wink *

Buka Puasa with the LT & Family

With bulan Ramadhan, we recently had a buka puasa gathering at Le Meridian with the LTs & their immediate family.

Both J and myself are the miserable lot of the night as we were both the ONLY single peeps there! Surrounded with lots of lovely families, we brave through it by having fun with the other single peeps there - the children! * LOL *

SW's darlings... People thinks SW and I look alike, hence she suggests me to take a pic with her darlings and see if can pass anot telling people they are mine * LOL * What you guys think? Besides commenting me looking old enough to be people's Mummy la....

J with Rubi's darling - I threaten to post this on the internet claiming the child is hers if she ever pisses me to spoil her chance of getting that prince Charming * =P* muahahaha! *

And I simply lurve these boys - Kak A's darling (boy in red shirt) and N's pretty boy with thick curly lashes. He was so cute that he used chopsticks to be his "antenna" * LOL *

Had fun with these cuties, sending warmth to my aching heart that love still exists when you look at the right direction...

Feeling Blue...

I am feeling grumpy and blue...

Bouts of tears hit me every now and then...

Why is this happening?

Amazingly Big Roti Tisu

My first time having such a long and big...

piece of roti tisu! Needs 2 plates for it to lie on. A good one for sharing for a long mamak yum-cha session * heehee * At Sri Melur, USJ 13 (or was it 14?) * =P *

Hearty Dinner

Piggies who went on a full day shopping decided to have a Thai dinner. As usual, all those "exercise" and "mind-exhausting" shopping activities work up an appetite - for glutton piggies, that is no question to our ravenous appetite * =P *

When the food arrived, we both realised that we seldom go out and have a meal that is for sharing. I mean, yeah, we share all the time, but our clan seldom have a sit down meal like those chinese family meals where we have 3 dishes + soup with rice * =P * Its usually a main dish(s) on our own and then we share.

Hence, this makes us feel very warm - despite a silly reason. Very family feel kua...

The FuzzyPanda clan definitely must do this more often - a proper family meal!

This might sounds silly, but somehow it warms my small heart * wink *

Duckies

Okay SP, As Promised...

Yeah, a lil late but hey, its here now * =P *

For the rest of the clan, SP was excited over the picture of the Evil Duckie pic I posted on the Random Shots entry. I told her I have also a Satan & Angel Duckie, and she MUST see them too * LOL * They happen to come in a bag - noticing that they are pretty special, bought them for decoration.

So here - let me know if the description fits the actual item * wink wink *

Satan Duck - cos it has an even glint in its eyes and the horns! * =) *

To balance it up, sure must have Angel Duck ma... * LOL *

Hope you like it SP!

DIY French Mani

Saw this french manicure set on sale which were cheap. The adventurous Panda in me was tempted by the cute packaging of the set so decided to give it another try at DIY french manicure.

I tried it before long ago, but it failed miserably. This time, I managed to get it look presentable - well, at least for my left hand * =P * Will never never never NEVER to be able to do it with my left hand drawing on the right fingers...

Oh well, I guess will need to pay the manicurist to get it done after all as I am never able to complete it myself.

To my brave cheemuis, I can give it a shot to try on you geh... * wink * wink * But be warned, my manicuring skills are still at awareness level * =P *

Breathe... Breatheeeee...

Am up to my forehead with work and missed deadlines...

With all these work and stress and all, I think I am not up to my supposed speed and performance.

* dang! * Must buckle up and run faster.

Must keep up if not ahead.

* arghhh!!! *

Its not helping... Can't it be just left behind and archived?

* sigh... * I need more variances to my life pattern.

Can all these be ignored? Can everything be normal again?

How do I even manage my own self anymore...

I think I lost it.

I am depressed.

I am lost.

I am sad.

I am worried.

I am exhausted.

I feel like giving up.

Where and How can I find peace within my Panda self anymore?

Can I ever feel like myself again?

Where's my brain when I need it most?

Please... I just need to heal - if only I could.

Awed...

Yes, I think I am easily awed * =P *

Received another sweet gesture recently - something / a quality in man I find very charming and lurve... Being the die-hard romantic, what more can you expect from me besides being a dazed damsel who swoon at the little things people might ignore... * =P *

It happened at Coffee Bean on a work night out with colleague to take some discussion offline. Being the indecisive Libran in me, I have tough time making my selection at times (well, I need to WEIGH my choices wat!).

While selecting a cake for dessert, I politely invited others to place their order, cos secretly I do not wanna reveal that I am buying time to make a decision * =P *

My devastatingly cute dimples, WK, noticed that I have not decided and asked me why. I told him about my inborn indeciveness * =P * and he did and said the most impressive sentence a weak mortal like me could not help but go ga-ga,

" Its okay, I will choose for you so you dont have to decide. "

* swoon!!! * To an indecisive person, that is awesomely impressive and sweet.

Hell yeah I like a man who can take charge! * LOLOLOLOL *

* SP must be laughing off her ass and rolling her eyes real hard * hahahahaha * Apa macam SP? Like all my sweety male colleagues? * =P *

Happy Birthday SP!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SP-DEAREST!

Yes, this post came a few days late, somehow it rains everytime I wanna go online to post this * =P * But I know you prefer me personally hence I call you instead * wink * wink *

Would like to bake you a cake, but with the distance and my lack of practice lately, I guess it would be better to give you an image of me working hard at baking you one * =P *

I wish my dearest cheemui a big congratulations for hitting another milestone of life - adding another trail of fun, happiness and experience to your colourful life.

With no doubt you can be assured that you have my sincere well wishes and blessings in the best of everything there are in life for you.

With no doubt too you have my love, hugs and kisses that I can and cannot give.

With no doubt too I will not make you worry and will take care of myself here.

Thanks for your sincere friendship, the endless laughter you brought and most of all - the heartfelt love I know you sincerely care for me.

Have a fantastic birthday, my Cheemui!

Jap Tea Time

* Delayed entry *

Craving for dessert after a tired feet afternoon shopping, we stopped by at Pasta Zanmai for tea when their pretty banner stopped us in our tracks. They offer those 3-tiered tea sets.

In we go, more excited at the prospect of landing ourselves on our butt instead of tired feet than the tea itself, we somehow got distracted by the waiters there - got a few good looking Malay ones there. One even with a deepset voice which Pammie digs * =P *

Other than the perks mentioned, the tea was nothing of impressive other than their banner which initially attracted us.

The pretty tiers we await to sunk our piggy snouts into...

The top tier - other than the fruits, its a disappointment. Turned out that the cakes and chocs are those in the Jap packages they sell - just open the bag, cut and display. Can even taste that the cake was well preserved to live up to the expiry date on the packaging.

Bottom tier - this is alright cos at least they serve with fresh ingredients.

Middle tier - pretty but its those packaged cakes...

Oh well, disapponted me just braved this bad tea and looked forward to my shopping again...

Middle East Meal

Had lunch at this Middle East restaurant somewhere in the heart of KL with my charming boss. Apparently he lurve the food there, well, it is indeed good!

I was lucky to be tagged along for this meal during one of the LT meetings and yes, piggy me am impressed too.

The place looks non spectacular with it's gazebo, it is actually another one of those old bungalows converted into restaurants. Being the jakun me who have not actually had a full fledge middle eastern meal, of course I was excited * =P *

Boss ordered for all as we were rather clueless with what is good there, well it was food well served. We had the lamb and chicken on rice which looked and tasted a bit like briyani but it is not. It is served on a big platter where everyone just have to dig in.

The chicken platter.

The very-delicious-lamb platter. Would suggest one to take the lamb instead of chicken as the chic tasted overcooked and nothing extraordinary. The lamb however, is superb. And in HUGE chunks of tender meat.

My pile of lunch! Well, memang sedap leh the lamb - very well flavored and oh-so-tender. Had the Arab tea as well, which is more like peppermint tea.

Would recommend this place if you plan to have a different cuisine. Not very cheap if you dine alone, but for that kinda lamb they serve, I think it is worth the taste.

Stroopwafels

I lurve Stroopwafels...

My very sweet Global team over at the Hague sent these over to me - such a pleasant surprise. Many many thanks, hugs and kisses over to my sweeties! The collegue who brought them over commented, " I received an EMERGENCY email on Friday, detailing that I hand these over to you when I am in KL." * LOL *

Stroopwafels is one of the popular local specialties over in Holland. It is actually 2 pieces of this wafel stuck together with really thick caramel. * Yummy! *

Had my first taste earlier this year when a colleague brought some back as souvenirs. And it was love at 1st bite!

Thanks to my sweeties, I get to sink my teeth into them again. Definitely a fav in my list of yummy food! And such lovely box it came in.
