Nasi Daun Pisang USJ 9

I simply lurve to go visit restaurants offering banana leaf rice - lurve to pig out on the fabulous platter of food served on a piece of fresh, green leaf. Yes, I have this thing that I only eat on a pretty, hole-less, green leaf * =P * Ask anyone who ate this with me, I have QC check on my leaf before allowing them to serve my food on it * =P *

The one I like most so far was the one used to be on the same row with Taipan's Resipi Rahsia - too bad they have relocated / close of business. So far, that is the best I tasted.

Anyway, there's this new place in USJ 9, so adventurous us will check it out, especially one that sells banana leaf rice * heehee * It turned out to be ok jer - nothing much to talk about. Not that good actually. Hence I shall not talk much about it * Lappie batt low anyway * =P *

My papadam covered rice - I likey to have lotsa papadam pieces on my curry+dhall soaked rice... * heehee * See how kedekut they were with the side veges...

Fried fish and chicken - the fish gila small, just a baby... But i like how even on plates they line with banana leaves...

Chicken Masala and Rassam - Nothing good nor special with the taste - the chicken masala was a lil too dry for my liking...

I think I will still be loyal to my "abang-abang" at the banana leaf rice restaurant in Taipan - the one opposite Kedai Buku Besar though not as good as the one i mentioned earlier, but are quite good oso la - they all know me by heart now as I am such a frequent customer. The "Abang Besar" even took care to look for the freshest, biggest, greenest banana leaf for me each time I visit! * Or prolly cos thinks I menyampah, banyak comment so just give me one that would shut me up * =P *

Beate & The Fish Spa

A colleague from Netherlands came to KL last month. I didnt expect that we would click so well, and had so much adventure together over the short week of her stay! I wanted to post a pic of both of us, but am still waiting for her to send me the pics as it were taken with her camera - so SP, look for it on my multiply later ya!

We had this fun day visiting Pulau Ketam to makan ketam... er... angin * =P * This was my 3rd time to Pulau Ketam, and it pretty much stayed the same. We took the leisurely walk to look at those fishermen homes and take in the small island's life. And of course, we must complete our visit there with at least a plate of ketam... * heehee *

The view on the boat... We took the old-school ferry instead of the air-conditioned ones. Partly because I thought it would be a good experience for my angmoh friend - which I half-heartedly regretted afterwards - will let you know why later - just read on for now... * wink * wink *

We finally reach back to Subang Jaya by 600pm, and both still feeling excited and adventurous despite it's a Sunday and we both need to work the next day, we headed back down all the way to KL to try out the Fish Spa at Pavillion.

Its actually a good experience as we had fun! * LOL * Totally unexpected that it would be. There was an area for you to wash your legs before dipping into the pool. At that area, they misleadingly placed a few brushes for you to clean your feet. Dongkoi me went to clean my feet with the brush before Beate looked at me puzzlingly and asked "Arent the fishes suppose to nibble off our dead skin? What will they be feeding on if you scrub it away now?" I was like O-M-G, what were I thinking? * LOL * Seriously dongkoi and ulu - maklum la kali pertama pergi fish spa... * hehehe *

One thing cool about the fish spa at Pavillion is the view you get as their pool are designed to face the glass window. Both Beate and I were feeling ticklish and we laughed and squealed so much, I guess we pretty much scared not only the fishes away * =P * To the extend that one guyforgot about his GF and started to calm Beate down, gave suggestions on how to "relax" * LOL *

Its intimidating how when you looked for an area with the least fishies, and as soon as you dip your feet in, all the fishies start to head your way! As is screaming "Food! Food! Food! Go! Attack!"

Though they are small in size, but when they come in a school, I betcha'll be intimidated as well * =P *

This is Beate's legs - she somehow attracted more fishies that I did, so I decided to use her picture instead * =P * The bigger the fish is, the ticklish it will feel when they peck on you... But we enjoyed ourselves!

I went up to Beate's hotel room and was impressed by the cool room with the cool view she had. I seriously am thinking to actually get a room at Le Meridien KL Sentral on of the weekend to just chill and relax. They might be a lil small but very nice!

I seriously like their bath room! It has a bath tub that faces a big window! Situated on the 24th floor, the view was superb. What sealed the deal was that they even placed an aromatherapy oil burner by the tub - with complimentary aromatherapy oil! What can be more luxurious than to lie in the tub surrounded by foam and inhaling the sweet aroma while overlooking superb view? * sigh... *

And sip on this very good Vodka infused with lotsa lime! It had a very sophisticated name but I can only remember there's lotsa Vodka and lime in it! * =P * Yeah, it was that strong to only spike my memory with limited memory of what it was * hahaha *

Just to share this - Look how badly I gotten sunburned. This comes to the reason why I mentioned that I regretted the old-school ferry ride. I did not expect to spend the day under the sun, so I cleverly skipped the sunblock lotion. Wearing a short sleeve shirt, this is what happened to my arms. The old-school ferry has an area where we can sit, which is the front end of the ferry which is OPEN SPACE. I totally overlooked the fact that angmohs being adventurous and love the sun, Beate wanted to sit there. And the whole ride took about an hour and half as it was an old ferry, so it moved at and old speed... We sat there for BOTH the ride TO & FRO Pulau Ketam. Now you know why I regretted... And I still have the drastic tan line up till today, just that the redness has gone...

After the fish spa, we had a very nice dinner at pavillion at one of the Italian restaurant there. The food was alright, but the desserts were damn good! C - we should go there for our dessert session some time ya! * heehee * This was our appertizer - Seafood salad with squid, prawns and scallops.

My main course - Baby Lamb racks! Was not bad... But very beautifully presented ala Italian style...

Oooh...! The desserts! Love the choc molten cake! The warm melted choc just oozes out when you fork it - yeah baby, when you fork it * muahahaha * =P * And it wasnt too sweet too - combined with the vanilla ice-cream - purrrrfect...

Beate's PannaCotta - very good! Creamy! We had a very good, leisurely dinner - I have to say is not something I usually do as my group of friends dont usually take such a loooong dinner. With Beate, we had a glass of wine before dinner, chat and sip on our wine while she puffs away. We would open a bottle if only I did not have to drive home that nite... After our glass of wine only we have appetizer, followed by main course and then dessert. Definitely the most leisurely and lengthiest dinner yet for me!

I truly enjoyed every minute of my day - had lotsa fun and wonderful memories... I shall end this entry with a picture of my sunburnt self...

Thanks, Beate! I had a fantastic time with you too! Miss ya lots! Yeah, hope I can go to Europe to meet you soon! So we can continue our chat, laughter and adventures! Or maybe you should come to KL again soon? * =P * Hugs! *

Empty Headed Me

OMG OMG OMG! I think I am in dire need to get some supplement to nourish my brain!

I realised that I had just accidentally deleted my folder containing pics of food I have yet to blog! I had these few more delayed blog entries, with the pictures stored in this folder - and now it is gone!!! * gasp!!! *

Sorry SP, I guess will have to see if I ever revisit those makan places again to capture the pictures to share with you...

Dang! I am seriously having some issues with my memory as well as my brain's capability to function well!

Same Reactions

Seriously - I am amazed at myself at times.

Recently, I compiled these to put at my workdesk - an attempt to personalize my slave-area. To my surprise, it generated plenty of unwanted comments.

People who walked past or stopped at my desk cant help but to gasp out the same comment over and over again;

"OMG - you look so different! Why you never make-up to work like you did in the photos? Make-up la, look nicer to work"

Every single one of them gave the same response! In a way I feel that those are compliments as it appears that my make-up skill worth my effort, but on the other hand, it also means that I dont look presentable without cosmetics! It was just that I as having a tough, busy period at work ma, not that I deliberately look horrible mer...

Oh dear! Enough to be said to look like a zombie - these comments does not help the situation any how. * sigh... * Enough said, I shall try my best to look "presentable" to work...

My 1st Work Travel

I know this might seem silly to many, but I was pretty excited with this trip – as it was my first ever virgin travel on work account * =P *

Was happy that my boss included me for this trip, as it was meant only for team leads and Managers. Though just spending the night, I think it is sufficient for me to get the chance to travel due to work. Another milestone hit!

A lil intimidating – as the other colleagues are all pangkat much tinggi than me the noob + small fry. But good oso la, get to know them a lil better. Off I headed to Singapore on a Sunday afternoon on my own, giddy with the excitement of flying MAS for the 1st time as well. Luckily met few colleagues who are on the same flight as I, so it wasnt so boring. And I do not have to worry being sesat, as they knows the way * wink * wink *

My 1st flight with MAS

Stayed at Novotel Clarke Quay, as it is just about 5 minutes of walking distance from the Singapore Office. The hotel is real nice and new.

View from my room... Overlooking the shops of Clarke Quay

My Room! Likey how they give additional small pillows

I seriously like their writing table! Very Chic! Its actually slanted, though hard to see from this picture, And likey the reading light. It is scattered with information brochure about the hotel and Singapore attactions. And they have those upper-star-hotel facilities, like the display on the TV to welcome you to their hotel, displaying your name. Being referred as Miss CPQ sounds foreign to me * =P *

I was so impressed by their ultra sleek toiletries display! Looks So Cool! The test-tube shampoo stuff, and the tray slides out containing those toothbrush and stuff.
They even provide a bubble bath gel, so you can have a soak at the bath tub - which I did - Fabulous!

And I appreciate the extra touch - there's this card with fresh flower on your bed. Makes it look so posh * hahaha *

What is a trip to Singapore if it is not complete with the purchase of some Charles & Keith merchandise * heehee *

My Sling Backs - got 30% off some more! They are really comfy! And recently, I saw one suspiciously look like this at our local popular V shop, in diff colours as well. * hmmn... *

And my wedges! I likey so much! So comfy, one I can run and jump with carefree in them! * LOL * Got it at 20% * heehee *

And I was glad to be able to catch SL to spend the evening with me in SG. To my panic, my damned phone line wasnt subscribed to International roaming! * grrr... * I didnt know, as previously when I use prepaid, it was auto-roaming, assumed the same for the fixed line from the SAME telco, but disappointingly NO. So I was offline throughout my stay, luckily managed to get hold of SL using the hotel phone.

We went about the Clarke Quay area, before setting down for dinner at the riverside. Chose an Italian restaurant. As this is a company sponsored trip, well, of course I cant deprive myself from some good food rite? * =P *

Our appetiser - antipasti. Not good actually, waaaay too salty...

My steak with pinenuts and cream sauce. This is REALLY good! Beef was so tender and juicy. The meat rest on top of mashed potatoes...

SL's fish - very good as well...

And for desserts...

Local Gelato - not that great...

My piece of classic Tiramisu - nice presentation! Was rather good, though not among the best I've tasted.

Many Thanks, SL, for accompanying me for my otherwise lonely night in Singapore. I had a great night!

Note : Pardon the dark pictures, it was dark by the riverside and we both did not have any canggih cameras with us that night * =P *

I had another good dinner the next day before flying back to KL, but cos I was eating with one of the team managers, paiseh wanna take pictures... * hehehe * Cos when out with collegues, usually I don't take many or any pictures - dont feel nice... So have to deprived you guys from it! * =P *

Decanter Damansara Heights

Food Food Food!

Went over to this place for long - lunch one of those Fridays. Food here is okay saje, but a rather nice place to sit chat for a long lunch break. And I like how its not difficult to get a parking space here compared to many other places on Friday noon * =P *

The ice-blended Coffee which tasted like ice blended - no coffee taste at all - dah kena cheated...

My Lamb Dish - Ok saje - Nice presentation though...

My colleague's special chic soup - like the layer of pastry on top and the classic cockadoo bowl

Oh - this dessert is rather good. Banana Pancake in Caramel Syrup - something Pam would like. I try avoid ordering food with Banana in it as I dont really like bananas ( I know you dont believe, SP, but i memang tak suka makan pisang wan =P ), but this pancake is good. Like that it is warmed by the caramel sauce, though the sauce might be a lil too sweet, but it complements well with the whipped cream. A must try I say - a very nice make-up for a basic, local banana pancake...

Multitudes of Cupcakes!

Felt that I have to share this as this is really the first time I encountered SO BLARDY MANY Cupcakes in one seating!

It was one of my line manager’s birthday (somewhere in early April) and I was put in charge to organize a simple celebration. One of the highlights was to get her cupcakes, as well as one for everyone in the department.

As my department here is huge, and she is one of the high level managers, hence we allow everyone to have one cupcake each. So you can imagine the amount of cupcakes ordered – a hefty 200 pieces!!!

As the cakes arrived, I must do some checking – incase does not tally and people start to complaint (well, ended up, there were a lot of complaints after all, despite the goodwill of us giving all a cupcake – people do not appreciate the effort) at the boardroom, and I could not resist but to document this sight…

The boxes of cupcakes!!! Got sugar OD just looking at them * =P *

These are the designs - they are repetitive ones - cheaper ma * =P *

Got them for Choffles - the icing wasnt that good, though the cake was good.

I like this design! And the colors!

These are the specialty cupcakes for the Birthday Gal - it was topped with decorated Marzipan sugar sheets and was really Pretty. Light purple as Purple is her favorite color, but to have cupcakes in actual purple is just - weird.

But its a nice sight to see all the pretty cupcakes, even more enlightening to witness the bad, ugly and glutton facets of people in the office generated from this small event...

Pasta Zanmai

A food entry to entice my overseas friends * =P *

There’s this new Pasta Zanmai restaurant opened in OneUtama. It’s a fusion Jap place, integrating Jap pasta with the norm Jap food. A refreshing choice for many, definitely a place to be when one is in the mood for something basic but with a twist in its flavor.

Price wise is alright, competitive prices for this range of Jap restaurants. I do like their range of desserts, very tempting presentations – a must try during my next trip, did not order any desserts that time as I couldn’t stomach more food * heehee *

I can not resist and must take pics of their pottery. I know WL would like their pots and all * =P * And they have those Jap food stuff mini mart at the frontal of their shop - will be Jap snacks haven for WL... So this is for my daughter…

The tea pot n cups...

Our serving plate - reminds me of WL so much - so her type * =P *

My Potato Gratin - Like it, very creamy, and it has chunks of potatoes in it.

My Squid Goreng yg tak macam sotong - this is bad - too salty and too dry - seem overcooked. Please avoid this at all costs if you happen to be there...

But this is a good place to hang out for a long chatty lunch. Cozy environment, pretty desserts! * wink * wink *

In Miri

Am in Miri for a day - and I miss KL already...

Cannot hide the fact that I am a true City Gal * =P *
