Best Char Siew Pau Yet!

Braving our sleepy heads, we went to Happy Garden very early on a Sunday morning for a round of chatting over steaming dimsum * :P * This time, we tried the other stall which usually has more customers than the one we went before. Boy, now we KNOW why this shop has more customers ...

I fell in love with this place's char-siew pau!!! * blush * It was good with a capital G!!! It was always said by the elders that a sign that a char-siew pau is very good is when one can peel off the pau's skin in one thug - and O-M-G, this is the first time I ever had this legendary experience! The pau was soft, and the filling - * fainted * thick char-siew sauce! And it is not those filling which comprises of more pork fat than meat. Dont believe me, go try for yourself! Even SP admitted that it were GOOD!!!

The oh-so-fantastic char-siew pau! And the bowl of porridge is also GOOD! It tasted richly stewed with pei-tann, egg floss and minced pork. I simply love porridge and this is one hell of a damn good one! Yup, another must try besides their pau. And the dimsum dish beside the pau is also very good. Made from pork, it was dipped into this special sweet sauce and then fried. Yummy!!!

The siew-maii was alrite only, the har-kaaw not impressive.

I seriously recommend you guys to check out this place if you crave for good dimsum for breakfast. Most of the dimsum offered was delicious and they have a lot of different dimsum you can shoose from. I didnt try the HongKong CheeCheongFunn because we were too stuffed. Their pricing is the a bit lower than the average charge for such dimsum place, about rm27 for the 2 of us, inclusive of tea, on top of that, customer service was surprisingly good as I did not expect service with a smile from such hawker-style place * :P *

If you intend to go for breakfast here, make sure you go early as it gets crowded by 10am.

I simply M-U-S-T have their char-siew pau again.... * howling... *

Steamboat&BBQ Buffet

* argh!!! * I have too many subjects yet not enough time to post them! * grumble * grumble * Why time seems to wheeze by at the during the year end? * sigh *

Okie - down to business ... * :P * Another food review from me the glutton-FuzZyPanDa * heehee * I went to this place for the 1st time some time ago but didnt manage to take pics of it as we were too busy digging in to savage our hunger than to waste precious minutes to take pics * :P * Therefore, the 2nd time there, I make sure I contain my gluttony a bit so that I can share the info of this place with everyone * hehehe *

This Steamboat&BBQ Buffet place is at the new shoplots behind Mentari Square. For those of you who frequents Yuen Steamboat there, will have an idea what I am talking about - this place is situated right across the road from them - at the new shoplots. Rather 'unnoticed' by bypassers with their location on the 4th floor, it is a hidden pleasure for those who can 'find' it * :P *

They are having a year-end promo * ??? * of rm18.80 per adult stomach, where this price includes free-flow drinks of Jasmine tea or Mango 'juice' ( which is actually those cordial mango flavoured drinks). Steamboat pot on your table, and when you want your food to be 'barbequed', just drop your plate at the 'barbeque counter' and they'll do the job for you. Just wait for the 'tiiing' to collect you 'barbequed' food.

Prawns and some kind of big 'la-la' * dunno what they are called ler... * :P *

My fav! Mushrooms!

The interesting quality that I like about this place is their few choices of cooked food offered. Unlike most steamboat buffet place where their cooked food tasted stale and awful, here, I tell you, I prolly ate more of them than the steamboat stuff! It tasted soooooo... good...

The Meehoon-fried-thai-style, Very fragrant seafood fried rice and my favourite - their Marmite Chicken! Memang gila sedap!!! * salivating... * At times, I feel like going there just to eat their Marmite Chicken! Yes, it is that sedap... * :P *

Another aspect which I like about this place is that they offer a very clean and comfy environment for steamboat - ing. Their place is well air-conditioned and not stuffy with stale air, and the best part is their window seats where they have large windows that can be open to your likings. With the rainy season in tow lately, it is very pleasurable to have your steamboat with enjoyable company and at the same time, having soft, cool breeze to carry away the steam from the pot. Customer service is good, with very polite and informative staff who patiently explain to you how their buffet works the minute you set your ass on their chairs. And of course - the Marmite Chicken ....

So, who wants to go Marmite Chicken with me now? * :P *

Rate : Food 5/ 10 for the steamboat, 6.5/10 for their cooked food, Price 5.5/ 10, Ambience 6.5/ 10, Service 6/ 10

Lousy cakes...

Went looking for a place to yumcha with C last Sunday and were thoroughly disappointed with the following place ;

Forgot what it's name is - well, it definitely is a forgettable one, with it being D-R-Y on the sides and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few days before being served on my table. I guess the waitress attempted to warm it up ( for what reason i do not know, cos not that it has additional hot fudge drizled on - like those brownies from SecretRecipe) with it only melted a lil on the side * ??? * Besides, it tasted none as chocolatey as the name suggested - though it looked splendid in the fridge...

Hutan Hitam slice (BlackForest cake, if you dun understand * :P *) - was alrite, 'mein keong'-ly said, but nothing special - I think those rm3.50 per slice ones from Berrys tasted even better. Sumore ah, they serve their cakes on * gasp! * paper plates! Excuse me, I paid rm7 a slice, sumore havent nclude TAXES, you serve me cake on paper plates?????

Memang very disappointing - especially when this shop boasts how their cakes and chef received numerous awards and even been awarded by the Malaysian Book of Records for 4 times * really??? * At a rather heavy price tag of almost rm7 per slice, they seriously does not worth my dough, and maybe, the awards too. If you happen to wanna try their cake the next time you happen to be in ss15, around TBS area, puh-lease - you are at your own risk. Dont sat you have not been warned.

The available plus points - Very well decorated cakes and sweet looking waitresses. There.

Leaving the bakery with heavy hearts and a light tummy * :P *, we went to another place to yumcha. Stopped at the shop opposite itu Beans tongsui shop. * sowwee, forgot its name too * A rather AhBeng looking shop, with a wide seletion to choose from, it is those ala Char Chan Teng kinda food. Price -wise is alright - not too bad a place to yumcha as they have plenty of 'unique' drinks to offer -if you can bear the rather loud Canto-pop songs blasting throughout the shop * :P *

Drinks - Iced Honey & my Iced Honey Lemon. The hand model is courtesy of C's, cant wait to stab the very un-Buffalo fries and next to it, onion rings. Their tomyum soup need one word to describe it - * eeeuuuww! * Be prepared, you are paying for a pot of watery soup made from cubes of Maggi tomyum seasoning with some pieces of chicken thrown in.

The drinks was good though.

Customer service - not very friendly waiters&waitresses.

*sigh* It seemed that we had a bad experience with the cafes in ss15 that day. I know there actually has many cafes - anyone can recommend any good ones, ar?

Morning Magic

* Sentimental Entry *

I am not a morning person.

I enjoy being a 'night cat' cos I find solace in the stillness of the dark and the soft, cool breeze that envelops me. It is the catalyst for me to ponder, to stray in my messy web of weird inner self and emotions. The night also triggers my creative side, where many of my crafts and ideas are created - well, overnight * :P *

But this morning, nature gave me a new lesson and a new view of the world. I discovered the true meaning of morning magic - no, SP, I dont mean the kind of roll-over-and-have-a-morning-orgasm kinda magic * :P * heehee * wink * wink *

This semester, I have a crazy time of having 3 out of the 4 papers I take, they are scheduled damn early - 8.45 am!!! Sumore consecutive days!!! * argh!!! * To beat the traffic, I left my warm, inviting bed at 6am and leave for uni by 7am * &^%$#! * Since I have 1 hour before the paper starts, I went to have breakfast at a mamak bistro nearby while going through my notes.

They have these open-air tables where I chose to sit - away from the crowd who all seated inside the shop. This open-air area is coincidently surrounded by trees, creating a very comfy environment in the cool morning air.

While trying to recall what I've been trying to memorize, the realization actually struck me real hard - the surroundings.

I have never actually wake up so early before to enjoy a mug of piping hot teh tarik under the sky and trees. The weight of sleepiness heavy in the air, the nakedness of the atmosphere is so stark with many still in dreamland, a sense of innocence flows to you. The sky was clear and blue, cool breeze gently kiss my chubby face, faint chirpings of birdies in the distant backdrop. There was this magical aura in that moment. Nature is just so amazingly beautiful.

It gave me a sense of calm despite the anxiety of not being able to remember all the key points and the lethargic-ness of having not enough sleep from mugging the books. Teh-tarik and roti canai had never tingled my tastebuds like they did this morning. Time seemed to went still for that one minute and for once, I felt * ahem * pure ... if you know what I mean... Its like hearing the nature speaks to me...

This experience taught me to value the simple things in life which we often take for granted. To see things beyond what it often potrayed.

I must make a resolution to appreciate this kinda 'magic' more often... Words cant explain exactly the magical moment - one hafta experience it. Try it, at least one in this lifetime - either on your own or with a loved one - the feeling will be a pleasant, refreshing experience...

Friendship

Was having one hell of a chat marathon with Mr Gold last night when this topic struck my innerself. He was in another of his 'down' moments when he felt himself as a useless and unlucky man in the romance department. Well, not many of us are so 'lucky' that we have people willing to D-I-E for us or to have one who loves you more than you love them. Or put in another way, not all can claim to found love and sustain the person you love with you.

Anyway, the subject of the night was love and the topic that struck me is friendship and love.

Is friendship still important to you when you found love?

Well, this interests me tremendously. I, personally witnessed, say, 90% of my friends or people around me who certainly abandon friendship when they found their 'lover'. Without even batting an eyelid. How many actually values friendship anymore when all they see is their other half?

I am very grateful and also respect people who still values friendship despite being in a relationship. People who still remembers their friends and actually tried to maintain the friendship. Yah, everyone is busy with work and when there is actually time left from work, it will be generated to the one you love most and to some, family too, but the question is, how many still makes the effort to care for a friend?

During the hormonal teen years, we all at some point of the teenage, has sweared sisterhood/brotherhood with some buddies. When college hits, especially the when the other sex seemed to be more captivating, buddies became baddies who just gets into your way, huh? Who you felt very 'fann' and 'jor juue' your 'paktoh' time? Or the 'single' people you flawn your oh-so-happy relationship? *bleks*

It is just human nature, some might tell me. Not trying to boast or anything, but I always make it a priority in my life not to abandone friends, especially those dear to me regardless how big my man's dick may be enticing * :P * Even when I was in relationships, I make sure I meet up with my friends as frequent as I can and if I really cant meet them in person, at least a sms or email. To me, good friends are harder to find than a good man. Quoting Lao Tzu - the only constant in this world is that it always changes - nothing stays set forever. The man / woman you claim your undying love and they claim their utmost passion to you still cant be the warrantee for a lifetime of honestly and loyalty. Yeah, friends may betray you too, but what I am meaning is those true friends... Those you know you'll find one in a million.

It saddens me that many people start to forget another fundamental aspect of life - friendship besides love and family. Who are you to complain to when you boyfriend forgets your 100th day anniversary? Whose shoulder will you be crying on when your I-swear-he-is-the-one abandons you for a shorter and hotter skirt? Who never fails to give you moral support when you needed it most? Who love you for who you are and not discriminating you because you are fat or dressed horridly? You can just forget the years of friendship when you fall in love? Who are there to share you happiness if not friends? Are you sure you only need to communicate with the love of your life and ditch socializing?

At times, it felt almost like betrayal when a so-called friend drop you faster than a hot coal when they find the significant other - as if you are intangible, if you get what I mean. What I benci most is especially those who still likes to say that you are their friend when in reality, treats you none like one. And I despise most is those who *ahem..* forgot about you until they got dumped by the apple of their eyes and they'll start being your best buddy again until the next best thing comes. WTF?

Puh-lease... Friendship is not a commodity you can obtain or dispose at your pleasure. Sorry to say, I definitely wont forgive anyone who commits such crime. Like any other relationships, friendship too needs maintainance. A mere sms or email once in a while is sufficient to show your sincerity * of course, not the once in a bluemoon after you just broken up with someone * A lunch date with friends, even once a month is good enough in this lifetime of routinous work.

I am reading this book - Watching The Tree by Adeline Yen Mah. I like this part where she mentioned relationships is like a sell/buy transaction in business. When one company felt that they are on the losing/non-profit end of the transaction, the relationship will fail as one party feel that they are not getting the ideal objective they want. It applies to relationship as well. If only one party always be the giver and felt not receiving much from the other, the feelings will pile up and eventually, he/she will opt out as the 'transaction' is not just to them anymore.

This immediately ignite another pet-hate of mine - friends who never seemed to make any effort to be friends. Neh, especially those who never seems to ask you out or sms you but having you to make the move to plan a meeting all the time? And say you didnt include them in activities or that you not making effort to be friend with them when you didnt ask them? Come-on la, I am just human. At times, I also need a lil assurance from people that they actually want my company too and not just merely entertain me because I ask them or call them all the time. It is good to know that people wants to meet up with me too, not only having me be the one always initiating the meet. It made me feel as if if I dont ask, you dont bother wanna see me? Call me siu-hei or whatsoever, but that is how I felt.

Humans will be human. It is when they got dumped and the lonelines crept in that they'll feel the importance of having friends. Well, you wont know what you have until you lose them.

I salute to those who doesnt abandon friends despite having a more special someone in their life. I respect and appreciate my friends who dont behave that way. You all are a gem! * :) *

Xmas gift blues...

Christmas is 16 days from today * sigh * Though I'm a Buddhist, I do join in the festive mood and, well, try to spread some yuletide cheers as well * :p *

The problem is - what to get as xmas presents ar? * scratch head * Must be something cute and cost effective * :P * Know-la, me still a poor student, where can afford to celebrate it in a big way... And also, what to do on Xmas leh? Am thinking of going for high-tea geh, but assuming most places would be more crowded than Santa's presents' bag? Any ideas, anyone?

Oh, I must post this picture of this gorgeous late of crabs I had recently. Well-presented and sedddaaap! Very not in my expection as it came from those small-scale 'dai-chau' stall. But yummy nevertheless!

Men with Pet Cat

If you dont know already, I like cats. Dont get me wrong, I love dogs too. However, I just despise people who claimed they are animal lovers but hate cats or those dog lovers who spat at the mention of the word c-a-t. Where is the respect, huh? Cats are not alive, arent they an animal like your precious dogs too?

Anyway, my intention today is not to talk about or debate why people hate cats. In fact, I wanna talk about people who likes cats.

I absolutely fawn over guys who has a pet cat. Stroll pass me with an armful leash of dogs will not impress me but sit in a corner stroking a kitty on your lap will send me into a gushing frenzy. Seriously - lah...

I dont know why I have a soft spot for guys who has a pet cat. Maybe it reflects their sensitivity and their patience. Yah, guys who have dogs prolly have more patience as it is hardcore discipline to train dogs into obedience - but hey, try training a cat. With the bo-chup attitude and I-wont-care-less personality of cats, one prolly killed the cat before it survived the first month of pet ownership * :) *

Whats more, in my opinion, guys who own cats have more tendency to please rather than be pleased. Dog owners are used to have the dog at their heels as doggies usually eagers to please the owner by doing the tricks taught or try to secure maximum attention from their owners for a scratch * My Iro was an exception * :P * whereas cats, they require you to please them. Their queen-like behaviour commands the owner to pay attention to them when they want you to. One of the reasons of why I like cats - they so have character * wink *

Was watching the tele about this interview with a local new singer cum composer cum musician. The interview was set at his home - to sort of look into his personal life aspect a bit and * no prizes for those who guessed correctly * hehehe * , he has a pet kitty! And he put it on his lap and cudle it throughout the interview! * pengsan- me * So blardy sweet!

Guys who owns cat seemed to me as shy, sentitive and * ahem * passionate when you are both * ahem * alone. * You all sure get what I mean * wink * They also appears to me to be observant - as cats do not display their needs or wants or emotions as explicitly as dogs does, cat owners have to be extra attentive and caring to now what their cat is feeling.

* sigh * I guess I am really crazy, hor? But I would like to know, who else likes guys/ gals with pet cat? Drop me a comment to let me know ya! Maybe we can set up a guy-with-cat-watching-clan * muahahahaha*

Bad Service, Bad Food

There's this new yumcha place in Taipan. I can tell you, it gave me the worst customer service for the year of 2006. Ok, mayb it being new is the best excuse to forgive them, but no, I am not that big hearted.

Boasting of their specialty in gelato, bakery and cafe, it certainly attracted a lot of attention, together with their contemporary decor and the many tables on their rather big open air area. Maybe also because they are new, the place was very crowded on a Friday night - but that doesnt excuse them for being so rude.

It took a hefty almost 5-8 minutes for us to be served with a menu - that also upon frantic flagging for a waitress. Dunno if it is due to the school holiday season, most of their employees looked very much under the permittable age of working. Takpe-lah that they are young, but extremely blur as well. All looked kau-kau busy walking through and fro around the cafe, but actually just whizzed by, not doing much productive work.

Again, it took ages for the food to arrive, I think it is faster to wait for the ikan bakar than this. What pisses me with this waiting is that - not that we ordered any food that required lots of preparation - it was just 2 pieces of cake for God's sake! Which they only need to remove from the fridge, slide onto a plate and , well, serve it to me. And, they planned not to serve me until I flagged for one who looks like the supervisor - where the supervisor HIMSELF went to get the order * ??? *

Another thing that stoked my irritation is how they did not put sugar into my milk tea and got the cheek to serve it to me, without even bringing the pot of sugar for me. The gelato was nothing much to be excited about too - which was mostly melted and I dont even get a full, compact cup the way LeckaLecka served theirs.

Hazelnut Latte - nampak cantik but tasted nothing extraordinary.

The mostly melted gelato - cookies and cream flavor. Taste wise is not bad, but who wants to be served melted gelato and also pay for a poorly filled cup?

New York Cheesecake - was rather good with its very rich cream cheese.

Greentea Cake - Also not bad. Apparently, only the cakes are good here and - well, almost nothing else. I must give some credits to the supervisor for being so patient and still shot his megawatt smile despite the crowd and my obvious display of irritation to him. Please, the management of this cafe - learn from this guy -la. Especially this another man - who seems to be the boss or maybe a partner of the cafe, just stood around looking busy and barked at others while he himself do nothing. I was standing next to him at the gelato fridge, waiting to be served by his ever so busy employees, he having nothing much to do and standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME, did not offer even a sentence of help or try to promote his product! What kind of lou-sai is that? Sumore put on that lann-see muka boss - hey, the customers is your boss ok? You think you boss can show itu monkey face to customers ka?

Hopefully, once the cafe is more settled down, the service and all would be better. But we wont know for sure either.

I dont think this place deserve even a rating. My complaints already tells all.

Shopping Frenzy!

On Tuesday, me & me daughter went on a shopping frenzy downtown KL. Believe or not, we actually shopped for almost 12 hours! * muahahahaha * Keeng- leh? It was a long a due trip anyway, especially on my part as I wanted to go shop-shop-shop to stock up my already running low inventory * :P * and also to go buy printer's toner and a pendrive @ LowYat. Now that my inventory is full, my bank account is low pulak * :P *

Hopping from Lowyat to SgWang to Lot10 back to SgWang and finally to TimesSquare, we then stopped by at the Sri Petaling pasar malam on the way back to SubangJaya * heehee * Seriously.

Da Sri Petaling pasar malam is actually a good one, much better than our SubangJaya's. Of course, it covering a longer span provides more stalls for shoppers, but they truly offers more choice of goods and some, lower prices. If you plan to go there, make sure dont go early as their pasar malam really very 'malam' wan. We were there at about almost 7pm and most stalls were just starting to be set-up. The crowd too only comes around 8pm.

For SP's information, * :P * these are what I bought ;

My loot. All these for about rm200 * muahahahahaha * Bag, pouch, sandals, mascara, nail polish, earrings, necklace, bracelet, a top, compact powder, stickers, beads & ribbons...

Of course, all these shopping requires replenishment and fuel intake in recesses. We stopped for dessert of this irresistable, sinful treat ;

Cream-cheese Choc Banana Cake. The name itself piled on the kilos already * :P * Actually, I've been there before with C but that time belum ada blog la, so no entry about this. It is from the Zang Toi's cafe in SgWang. Priced at rm8 per slice ( after tax), it is enough to satisfy 2 as the chocolatey taste PLUS the choc syrup poured on top will seriously give one a Choc-Shock. It is a rather big slice too. But of course, piggies like us had a slice each * pengsan *

And this shopping trip leaves me in a new dilemma - I fell in love with Paul&Joe's fur-fur puff-puff! * arghhhh!!! * Spotted it from a far, its magnetic charm drew me to its counter. This puff-puf is seriously one of a kind! Unlike most which usually looks fluffy and soft, this is - a God-damn F-U-R!!! SERIOUSLY!!! It felt as if you take a soft toy and use it to powder your face!!! And the powder itself is very velvety and smooth... Under rm150. Should I buy it? * sigh... *

My 1st Minnie Ears

I wanna extend credit to my dearest SP for her kind generousity and thoughtful souvenirs she brought home to me from Japan. TERIMA KASIH, sayang! * wink * I lurve each of them! To memenuhi hajatnya, I must post these pics to display my gratitude to her! * heehee * Jangan-lah muntah pulak, ye!

Tadaa! Thanks to SP, I have my 1st pair of Minnie Mouse ears! * Yippee-yippee-ya-ya! * It is so soft and furry! * heehee *

So, SP, my pics as a Minnie-Mouse-Yang-Gemuk * :P * You like? I sure like the ears!

Another one of the souvenirs which excites me is this:

Marie the cat's ears! Yay!!! It is very sweet of her for remembering how much I like Marie the cat and she got me these pair of 'ears'. Unlike the Minnie Mouse ears which is is the form of a headband, these comes as clips. Cute anot? Got ribbon sumore... Ya, I like the cat because she looks so sweet and 'hau-dou-sei' * heehee * and also of sentimental value la, one of my exes used to say that cat reminded him of me because I look like that cat. Hmnn... Or maybe because I scratch like a cat? * muahahahaha!!!!* MeeeeOwww!!! *

And the cutesy box of candy and the unique cheese-filled mochi! Thanks, SP!*mumumumumumuaks! * hugsies *

WL's Bday 2006

Another piggy hit the mark liao! A belated celebration for WL due to an unfortunate bout of flu viruses which hit her earlier. As C jumpstarted the 'special bday cake' tingy, I decided to make these for my daughter's bday :

Homemade cupcakes. Dongkoi me forgot to buy additional butter for the icing, hence the rather plain look and taste of the cupcakes * :( * Sorry, gal!

The big one in the middle! Anyway, I sengaja use those sprinkle balls to make it look 'dotty' since WL lurve polka dots stuff so much * :P *

And the weird stuff stuck into the big muffin is actually mini placards of well wishes for her! Also handmade wan! See, I so sincere leh! * :P *

As for the celebration, we went to makan Jap food. Initially wanted to go makan Japanese buffet, but when we reached there, they said that the buffet was a promotional period only, therefore we just order ala carte lo. I forgot what the restaurant's name is, but it is situated the row behind Fondue House in Hartamas. The 3 of us, ( SP were there too) had a very puas Jap food ordeal.

Price wise, is the usual Jap food price la, higher than those in RajaSushi of course la. But I tell you, you sure puas-puas wan! The food was great, with generous servings. The glutton pig in us somemore mau order banyak-banyak but luckily didnt. Each of us has a set was already enough to fill up our pig stomachs, and the food was very well presented too!

Ambience was good, with dimmed lightings and cozy settings, though the restaurant is rather small space wise. The only thing I find annoying is that they have a over-excited waitress who seems to be too friendly for my comfort as she kept intercepting my menu-strutinizing time and pushing to sell her 'meals'. Nevertheless, customer service is good, with their waitresses coming over to our table to refill ocha very frequently, without needing us to call for them to do so.

I ordered a set which consisted of a bowl of Ramen and other stuff (rm22), which the texture of the Ramen was good, but the Miso soup it were in was a lil too salty.

And my ebi ten maki, also comes together in the set with the gyoza! Yummy! Look at that gorgeous prawn tail! Big and oh-so-seductive! * :P * Unlike those I've eaten before, this is by far the best! They used a huge prawn tempura, which wasnt overfried, hence the tender and juicy meat and not those skinny prawn most place give. and the maki is so huge, it took effort to put a piece of it into my mouth! And the thickly layered fish roe! Makes your cholestrol shoot up to the roof for a minute. But well worth it! * muahahahahaaha! *

WL's set. I just must take a pic of hers too because it looked so pweeettyy! Tak sempat wanna tak pic of SP's set cos she digged into it so fast * :P * withour giving me a chance to take our my HP * wink *

And lastly, we ordered this sushi for sharing - soft-shell crab one! Another O-M-G experience! A must try! Though intimidated by its price at first (rm18) cos I tot it must be 3-4 pieces of in in a plate, but it turned out to consist of a whooping EIGHT pieces - all XL sized sumore! *nearly fainted * It is also gila babi sedap! A must try!

Overall, it cost about rm35-rm40 per person. Not bad for a Jap meal leh, sumore a very very satisfying one. Memang I syiok makan di sini. Great food in good presentation and warm service. Another one I would recommend if you ever crave for a good Jap meal.

Thrifty Me

I am not those lucky ones who are blessed with loads of $$$$ all my life. I am hopeful that the $$$$ that is lacking will come triple-fold in the near future * praying... hoping... wishing... Hey, SP! Cepat start you punya ceremony (hoi tann jok fatt) to bless me! :P *

With the lack of *quoting C* ahem... 'financial resources', I'll have to make do with whatever I have or can do to make my life more cheery. Knowing me, I am a shopaholic and I just MUST buy stuff. The need to own things is relatively high in me * :P * Wan pengsan, leh? * And to come from a Hakka family, where Hakkas are well known for their 'thrifty-ness', I guess that trait is ingrained into my sub-consciousness... Being the middle child too forced me to be independent to get things done myself if I ever wanted something as I've learned since young - never to rely on anyone but me-self to take care of my own welfare. Maybe it is also triggered by the D-I-Y and crafty side of me that I enjoy making stuff, quoting Pammie ' PQ, everything oso you must make wan' and W@i's euphemism for my such weird habit as ' unleashing my creativity'. W@i is the one who always encourage me on my this habit and I appreciate her motivations. She always doesnt like to receive gifts from me unless it is handmade by moi. Such a sweet gal. Thanks, W@i ! * Hugsies to you! *

When I was browsing through Mydin last week, I came across this :

Traditional 'pressed powder' used by the older generation when money were scarce and cosmetics were - well, unavailable. I just couldnt resist the old-school packaging and as it costs only rm1.50, I thought, why not get one to sample on. It is available only in 2 colors - white and pink. I chose the latter.

Not all cheap things is bad. Surprisingly, this powder is extremely FINE & SMOOTH and has a pleasant baby talcum smell. The drawback - it is a mild formula and does not stick onto you skin as hardly as our current cosmetic powders and requires touch-ups. Hence, a good choice for light coverage on a casual day.

The shade, since available only in 2 colors, obviously doesnt suit my pigskin. Was thinking what to do with it when an idea struck me. I had some blushers which the colors doesnt suit me or I had just gotten bored with them * :P * The thrifty side of me decided to 'experiment' with the idea. I scraped out the blusher, which was a shade too red for me, and mix it with the powder.

Voila! A lighter shade! Now the color suits me!

*heehee* No need to throw out the wrong color blush now! Sumore got new color to use! Yippee! So, if any of you accidentally got a shade of blusher wrong home, try this trick and see if it works for you or not. If it doesnt, just give away your blusher to a friend la * :P *

Another thrifty tip:

Feeling 'mmn ser tuck' to throw out eyeshadows that expired or which colors you doesnt like anymore? Well, fret not now! I came across this tip from a magazine and tried it out - it works! As it has past the expiry date yet you barely used it before, sure feel sad to throw it away, right? Unless you are the kind who joy over this incident as it gives you the excuse to buy more & NEW ones, try this.

Go buy a clear coloured nail vernish. I used this - only rm1.30 for my experiment. The better quality clear vernish you use, the better the results would be.

Then, scrape out the unwanted eye shadow and press them into powder. Make sure no clumps of it left as it will affect the end result.

Pour the powder into the clear vernish, screw the cap back on, and SHAKE IT, BABY! Shake it HARD & FAST! * muahahahaha! * When it is all well mixed, you get this ;

New nail-polish colors! Yay!!! And you dont have to throw out the eye shadows too! Just use them as you would with normal nail-polish. Nice tip, hor?

I truly enjoyed trying this out. Hope you all will too! If you are too lazy to do this, just donate to me your unwanted blushers or eye-shadows! * :) * I welcome you anytime! Or I can help you make, but you supply me the materials la * wink *

MonokuroBoo Frenzy [2]

I just can NOT resist these cute merchandise! * arghhh!!! * Found these at Living Cabin Sunway Pyramid... * :P *

Erasers, Pens, Mechanical Pencil Lead Refill & Liquid Paper. All at bargain prices too! Nothing is over rm2.20! * Muahahaha! * Got all these for only rm5! * heeheehee *

The most expensive item from the lot - this pen which can light up wan! Tengok! There's a button at the side where the light will turn on when you press it. Hebat, hor? It is so canggih that I MUST buy it! * :P *

Must use it during my final examination and see got "ong" anot! * hehehehe *

Disappointed - Again...

People never fail to amaze me. Of course, with the billions of them in the population and each has different personalities. And when I thought I should be more adult and that I have learnt to be a lil bit more forgiving and a lil bit more compassionate, people just have to not only remove that faith, but also pour in more to fuel my hatred.

In one of my earlier post - very very early one, if you guys can remember, I was ranting about how sadden I am by a person I emotionally close with for years and how I've given up on that person. Though I will not embrace that person again as before, but I try to acquaint that person again - due to numerous advice from my daughter to try see that person as a friendly companion and neglect that person as a person *hope you guys get what I mean*. But tonight, like the Chinese sayings " futt tou yau fo " - I guess it is fate that determines that this person shall not be involved in any aspect of my life.

I seriously almost can not believe that my friend can be SO LIKE THAT. Why you turned out to be this way? I dont believe its love, I truly believe that it is loneliness, selfishness and of course, that materialism in you that drives you to be like this. You think you try to give it another chance, but you are just making yourself more of a cheap ass. Even when you dont oficially give it a chance, your actions are leading you towards cheapness.

Of course it takes 2 to tango. The other person gila is not the issue here. It is YOU who decides your life. All your actions only reflect to me how "cheeen kak", cheap and lowly you are. Dont you have any virtue? Dont you even feel a bit ashamed of what you did? I truly wonder how you can face YOURSELF knowing what your own self did to the other person when you are with that victim of yours.

As your friend, I truly cannot accept not only the things you did, but also the dirt you tranformed into. It is so obvious that all the things that person did isnt sincerity, but it is all a PLOT, a TRAP to LURE you into his also selfish, desperate net. Yeah, I know it is none of my business cos by the end of the day, you are the 'har lau' fucking the ' bei pei', but it because I care about you that makes me feel so strongly wanting to protect you from being 'cheen' somemore.

Its the end of everything. No more trying, no any amount of kind words of advice anyone can give for me to forgive this person. It is because this person fail to see what is the wrong here. *sigh* I truly can not accept all these 'modern' relationships.

I guess now it just a matter of days before I launch into my 'severe ties' operation with this person as soon as i get the confirmation that the 'har lau' is indeed fucking the 'bei pei'...

I dont want to, but you just made me do it.

My Latest Nationality

I have grown to accept that I look anything but Chinese. Maybe I am not a Chinese after all * :P * What to do? I not only emotionally and mentally unstable, my face is "messed up" too.

Last Wednesday, there were this exchange programme where a troop of a whooping 300 hundred students from a Japanese High School visited my Uni. I were involved in this lame exhibition to so-call intro our Malaysian Chinese Culture to them. Why I say lame is not directed to our Chinese culture, but of how the exhibition were carried out. Giving us a VERY THE LAST MINUTE - the event on a Wednesday morning and the notice comes on TUESDAY MORNING. Apa lagi, cincai preparation la. Memang memalukan seluruh Malaysia, man!

Anyway, back to my topic, before the guests arrive, a lecturer, our club's advisor was commenting on how some of us looks like Jap and some not. When he turned to me, he commented that I DEFINITELY no Japanese but a

Lucky Hammies

Pets in this decade is just so darn lucky. Humans nowaday try to please their pets a wee too much. Or maybe it's the owners that pet-shops trying to impress and con their way into our wallets.

I have a classmate who works in a pet shop in Taman Megah. She gave me this ;

Strawberries For Hamsters - seriously.

Made of dough, it functions like a limestone - for hammies to gnaw on to blunt their gnashers. What impressed me is the way they present it nowadays. Nice, hor? At first glance, I thought it is those clay stuff or playdough or something.

Priced at RM8+, wont be a bad idea to use it as a decoration hor? * :P * Generous she gave it to me for free cos she got it from her boss FOC la. Thanks, Connie! Since I have no hamsters, gave it to Pammie's.

Dammit, pets are just so lucky, hor? The shop really know how to present their stuff to make money, they'll for sure made mine with this cute-sy presentation of a chew-toy for hammies...

Biasa-la, I ni kan suka kena tipu... * wink *

~cheeseburger~

Our favorite Restoren YaYa ( aka kerang bakar place) has a new face. A whole new makeover and extension to 2 shop lots now. It no longer looks like a dirty, gloomy restoren anymore - they are now a brightly lit ala those bistro mamak style.
Had their cheeseburger that day as they were out of kerangs. That burger looked so well presented for a ramlee burger type and I just lurve the way the cheese tongue out at me * :P *

Korean BBQ Buffet

Ya lar, ya lar, went piggy again * :P * I memang tak boleh stop this ketagih * kekekeke * Hey, blame Pammie! She's the one ask if wanna eat alot that lunch! I swear, its her! * ngek ngek ngek*

Went to try this new korean BBQ at Taipan. Not the one I reviewed earlier. This is ANOTHER one, a newer one * :P * and its buffet style instead of ala carte like the other one. Lunch & dinner to choose from. But they do offer ala carte as well such as bimbimbap, bulgogi such.

Priced at almost rm25 per stomach is a rather economical price when it comes to Korean food, though hafta pay extra for the drinks ( adds up to RM30 + tax per stomach) - but since it as free-flow, I'll let it pass * :) * Authentancy - well, oh-kay saje, as they offer loads of those fishballs, sotongballs - all itu ball-ball people makan for steamboat. A lil disappointed at first to see that they dont have that many variety to tuck into.

The 1st round of our lunch * :P *

Sizzle away!!! I like the fact that they layer aluminium foil on top of the grill to avoid foodsticking to the grill. Most impressively was how they actually C-H-A-N-G-E the foil so often, I lost count. Seriously. When they see it turned black abit, they change. Oh, you all can choose between tomyum or chicken broth for the steamboat soup.

And I MUST comment on their customer service. Truly fabulous! That smooth and soft looking hand is not mine, but of the Korean lady who served us. They will at times come over and help you to grill. And their staff is so soft-spoken and polite, it made me feel bad to give orders to them. They also come over frequently to clear way used plates and ask if you need to add soup or anything. A very pleasant time dining with them.

Of course those steamboat food ( itu fishcake, fish ball stuff) is of the common and also tak banyak variety, but go there we sure serang their beef which are marinated Korean style. SEDAP!!! And I also must mention their sotong - that was the first time I even makan sotong marinated that way of theirs that we ate a plate full just of that! Or was it 2? * :P * SP & WL will definitely love the sotong here! The chicken meat too were very well marinated. Kimchi is good - not those chunky or undermarinated kind. Got ice-cream too *heehee*

This place really imprinted a good impression on me. Will definitely return, sumore so near my house rite? No need go all the way to Midvalley for Korean BBQ liao! Yay! And, dunno because it's still new or what, but the shop is really very clean lo! Too bad the chairs werent that comfy la. Polite staff. Brightly lit. The crowd was very small on my visit, other time I tak tau la.

Sure, this is one I would recommend!

My "earrings box"

Feeling restless late one night and not liking the way my dangly earrings are being stored, I decided to organize them once and for... erm... now * :P * You all know how freaky I am to organizing and how I must make sure my stuff is well managed. Hey, I'm a management student - managing is my life! * :P * The keyword of management - to achieve effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvement - thats our professional motto - and in my case, it affects my personal life as well * heeheehee*

Hence, I decided to make a "store room" for my dangly earrings. Fellow gals will understand the hassle to store these type of earrings properly as the long entails and details will just get tangled with one another. And those who knows me well will understand my obsession with boxes, so it is no wonder the "store room" would be in the form of a box. I made 2 actually - one for my dangly ones and another for my studded earrings.

This is the "store room" * :P * The box is originally a mooncake box - those wooden type. Nice, hor? Those moon cake boxes gets more canggih by the year, hor?

Inilah stor anting-anting saya. Got racks to hang each pair. The bottom I place those circular earings which I cannot hang.

How? Organized anot? * :P *

Ya lar... I admit I am a freak. I gila wan * :) *

Cold night...

Fatty Luck : Oh! What a cold night! Mmn... I am so warm in my blankie!

P/S : His blankie is actually an old bedsheet :P But he looked so cozy, I must take this pic! :P

And, also on a wet night, when I was at AsiaCafe, saw this pretty cat with gorgeous eyes! And it was a tame cat, shared my "siew kai yik" and sotong goreng. What stole my heart was how it stayed even after the feeding and lied down next to me till I leave. It were a tame one too! As if it were my cat for that half an hour, sitting by my side, accompanying me and my friend.

May God bless this feline and spare it from cruelty...
