Viet Food Part 2

More food! * heehee * yup, i think i spend quite some time recording and taking pics of food in Hanoi! * LOL * The food entries are all dedicated to my fellow kaki-kaki makan who equally or more, enjoys food like piggie-me * wink *

Vietnamese coffee. I can tell you it is one P-E-R-K the F#%$ you up as it is so condensed, it rivals the local expresso. On top of the richly infused coffee, it is very sweet - can feel my blood sugar rising after one sip! Unlike expresso, it is surprisingly fragrant - not those heavy coffee scent - if you know what I mean... And I like how they add in shaved ice to cool it and totally love their presentation!

Ice-creams!!! My most favourite dessert in the world!!! My close ones will know how addicted - erm... passionate I am when it comes to ice-creams! * :P * howling * In Hanoi, I was told that the ice-cream there are made fresh daily, and does not come from the commercial tub. It is actually quite similar to gelatos - but are in a lighter texture. Very nice - a must try!

I dunno what this is called but it is one favorite drink/dessert in Hanoi. Very very similar to our ice-kacang marry cendol * :P * It has ice-shavings, the green stuff in cendol, cincau cubes, santan milk, coconut sugar and some more items that I can not identify - those chewy stuff... Very sedap! Especially on a hot day!

Ah... Bia Ha Noi... Their local beer... I tell you, I dont like beer as you know, I am a lil beer-intolerant as I will fall sick after taking it though I am fine with hard liquer * funny... * but this is one fine beer for beer lovers, especially easy for the girls! It tastes very light, and not all bitter and actually has a refreshing zing to it. A lil like Shandy, but bitter and the gas in it is not overpowering - another must try! Apparently, Vietnamese men must be able to drink a lot, as drinking alcohol is part of their custom. If a guest is not being served with ample alcohol, it is considered bad hospitality. If the guests dont get drunk, it is considered not giving face to the host - women are exempted from this culture... Oh well, a good place for alcoholics! And alcohol there is cheap! I think one bottle of this beer costs about rm1.... * wink * wink *

Our welcoming dinner prepared by our host - YUMMY!!! All home cooked!!! As I've mentioned, Viet food is very healthy - you can see that the table is dominated by veges! * hehehe *

Stir-fried beef - Viet style. I lurve it! Very sedap! And they fry it with lemon-grass - very fragrant.

Something we had for teatime. Yes, teatime * :P * It is a very special food - steamed wrapped in lotus leaves, it is a lil like rice pudding 'bak chang'. It has meat in it and is very delicious! I like it a lot! Something you definitely cannot find in Msia.

Spring rolls - another very sedap dish. It is fried, and again, hard to detect traces of oil in them. The skin is very crispy and - its sedap-lah, I dunno what to say anymore! * :P * A rather popular dish in Hanoi, as we had it almost every other meal... There are different type of spring rolls - some I tak sempat mau take the pic. Some are meat wrapped in a special leaf, some are like this one, crispy and has "tang hoon" and vege in it.

Baked fish in some interesting spices. The straw-like tingy is part of the spices or seasoning. A very fresh fish and the taste of this baked fish is one I've never tasted before - very special and nice.

Apa macam? Feel like wanna go Hanoi anoi? * :P *
